ELMA, NY – Following nearly six-months of solar panel installation by Montante Solar of Tonawanda, N.Y., Sahlen Sports Park has officially “plugged into” its new roof solar array, which consists of 1,350 panels.
The system now allows Sahlen Sports Park to be 100-percent energy self-sufficient, including the lighting at nearby Flash Fields.
“As a family-oriented, community-based facility, we felt that it was important to demonstrate corporate social responsibility. We hope that our investment not only sends a message to our community about what we stand for but also serves as just the beginning of solar panel array installation in our region,” said Aaran Lines, vice president of Sahlen Sports Park.
According to the Montante Group, it is expected that 354 metric tons of carbon dioxide will be saved from entering the atmosphere as a result of this project. That is equivalent to powering 43 homes for one year or over 45 million smart phones being charged.
“We consider our facility to be top-of-the-line and have invested heavily over the past year to ensure that we can continue to provide a tremendous experience to our guests. Our investments should speak volumes to the greater Buffalo and Western New York communities; we are committed to improving not only our facility but the Sahlen Sports Park brand,” stated Alex Sahlen, president of Sahlen Sports Park.
All Sahlen Sports Park guests are encouraged to check out the solar array display located in the lobby to learn more about solar energy and the specific environmental impacts of Sahlen Sports Park’s array.
